Wristwatch Repairer Requirements

The wristwatch repairer is also referred to as horologists on certain occasions. He/she has the task of repairing the wristwatch. There are a number of precision tools that the wristwatch repairer uses for the purpose of troubleshooting the technical and/or mechanical faults of the particular wristwatch. He/she needs to have good knowledge about the different kinds of mechanical movements of various brands of wristwatches. There are big wristwatch companies that recruit the wristwatch repairers in their branches. There are also many freelance wristwatch repairers who work in their own and are self-trained and handle personal business.

Education requirements:

  • A high school diploma in any stream from a good educational institute is a plus point.
  • A diploma in vocational training centered on watch-repairing would work highly in favor of the candidate.
  • A professional license or certified training in regards to watch-making from an accredited body is an added advantage.

Job requirements:

  • An experience of at least 2 years in a reputed agency as a reliable watch-repairer or an experience of 2-3 years as an appreciated freelancer.
  • Must possess ample expertise in identifying the mechanical problems of the wrist-watches and should initiate remedial measures for broken or damaged or deteriorating parts.
  • Should be comfortable with using the watch cleaning solutions.
  • Must be able to properly reassemble the moving parts of the wrist-watch.
  • Should be able to interpret the complex mechanics of the expensively branded wrist-watches.
  • The candidate must be proficient in testing the performance quality and accuracy of the wrist-watches.
