Wind Turbine Technician Requirements

The wind turbine is basically a mechanical device that is mainly used to generate electricity from wind. It is a very important instrument to develop the system of renewable source of energy. The wind turbine technician focuses on the maintenance of this instrument. In many cases, he/she develops the plan and builds the wind turbine taking into account the technical features and the costs of manufacturing and installation. The wind turbine technician works in a team of professionals including engineers and analysts in the projects aimed at improving the applications of technical know-how centering the renewable source of energy.

Education requirements:

  • A high school diploma in science stream from a reputed educational institute with good grades.
  • Although no specific under-graduate qualification is required to establish one’s self as an efficient wind turbine technician yet an associate degree in renewable energy studies or a technical qualification in the field might prove to be beneficial.
  • Certified training in repair and maintenance of wind turbines from an accredited institute would definitely be an added advantage.

Job requirements:

  • A minimum experience of at least 10 to 12 months in a renowned agency or company as an appreciated wind turbine technician.
  • The candidate must be proficient in identifying and repairing the faults in various mechanical parts of the wind turbine such as bearings and axles.
  • Must possess ample expertise in maintaining the dynamics of the blade spin and intricate torque shaft movements.
  • Must be ready to work in shifts and do overtime, if needed.
