Wholesale Seller Requirements

A wholesale seller sells materials or merchandise in bulk at rates generally lower than the maximum retail price. Since they deal in volumes, their profits generated are out of the number of customers they deal with and not out of the price. They generally are from the retail industry selling products of different companies and work with multiple manufacturers. The education requirements and job requirements of a wholesale seller are described below

Education Requirements:

  • There is no formal education requirement to become a wholesale seller.
  • However completing high school will be the least expectation of an employer.
  • Pursuing graduation and post-graduation will give the candidates an edge in understanding the interaction of price, volume, profits, etc.

Job Requirements:

  • The candidate is expected to know about full product information to sell them at the right cost.
  • Candidates are expected to have good negotiation skills
  • Candidates need to get more clients to increase the volume of selling and subsequently the profits.
  • Candidates should have good disposition and should be able to communicate well with the manufacturers, suppliers, and customers.
  • Candidates should keep track of all the materials being sold and keep their books of accounts with full accountability.
  • Candidates should possess good sales, advertising, and other marketing skills.
  • Candidates are expected to work for the whole day and stock inventory as and when required.
  • Candidates should have good networking skills to have contacts of manufacturers and suppliers so as to get materials at the least cost.
