You can pursue a career in imaging in the photography industry or in the health care industry. There are several different types of imaging and you can always choose one as a specialty like Reprography, Chemical imaging, Digital imaging, Geophysical imaging, Molecular imaging, and Magnetic resonance imaging among others. Imaging education requirements are quite restricted in nature and deals mostly with enhancing your capabilities to handle the entire process of imaging using different equipments and software’s.

Education Requirements For Imaging Industry:

Imaging is a specialized field and hence the imaging educational requirements need to be specific as well. The following two steps can be taken to gain relevant education in imaging:

  • Medical Imaging: The most common form of imaging is applied in the health care industry. Known as medical imaging technician, you will be responsible for handling both sonography and radiography requirements of all patients in a hospital or medical institution where you are working. The education requirements for medical imaging include high school diploma or GED with science subjects, followed by a bachelor or associate degree program in radiology, which will build your knowledge and skills in radiation biology and radiation protection. The under graduate or associate programs will also provide you with hands-on training on different radiology equipments including X-Ray machines, CT scan equipments, Endoscope, Ultrasound equipments, Sonogram, and X-ray film Processors among others.
  • Certification: The second option is to complete your under graduate education in any science stream with major in biology and then follow it up with a certification course in radiology. The certification courses have been created in such a way that they will help you to pursue a career as a radiologic technologist. The certification courses will also ensure that you are able to operate the equipments properly and understand what each report stands for. Certificate Program in Radiologic Technology is one such program offered by the Department of Radiologic Sciences, University of South Alabama.
