To manage day-to-day operations of a warehouse, a warehouse clerk should have good administrative skills and assist all other professionals in the warehouse. Warehouse clerk should maintain daily record of inventory being brought in or dispatched from the warehouse. He also works in a supportive role to other warehouse professionals like warehouse assistants, warehouse specialists to ensure effective functioning of the warehouse. The education and job requirements for this job profile are given as follows:

Education Requirements:

  • Candidates should complete high school or graduation from any reputed institution.
  • Employers prefer candidates who have a graduate degree in the subjects like operations, logistics, book keeping, and accounting.
  • The candidate should have basic computer knowledge.
  • Candidates with a few years of clerical experience in any sector get a slight advantage over others.
  • Working knowledge of the responsibilities of a warehouse clerk can be obtained by carrying out projects in firms through internships or apprenticeships.

Job Requirements:

  • Applicants should have knowledge on book keeping and effective administration.
  • Applicants should be willing to work under warehouse supervisors and follow their suggestions.
  • Applicants should possess good interpersonal skills and should be able to communicate well with other departments of the firm.
  • Knowledge of invoice preparation, stock keeping, and accountability to the materials in the warehouse will be essential.
  • Making bills for replenishment and reporting damaged and defected items also form part of the responsibilities of a warehouse clerk.
  • The candidate willing to work as warehouse clerk should be ready to work overtime and for long hours.
