A tutor is an individual whose job is to teach pupils or students. The field of tutoring is vast and may include the teaching of various different subjects or topics. A tutor may be either a private tutor (teaching a single student or a small group of students) or a tutor who conducts tuition classes so as to educate a large group of students.

To become a tutor, one may not require having a set education background but what matters is to have a good understanding and knowledge of the subject which is to be taught. Any individual who is interested in becoming a tutor may sometimes be required to have a certificate or diploma course in teaching.   • It is commonly expected of a tutor to have a high school passing certificate from an accredited school and that too with
  • A person looking for the job of a tutor may be required to have a diploma course in teaching but this is not a compulsory requirement as long as one is thorough with the topics that are to be taught.
  • Bachelor’s degree in the subject to be taught by the tutor is considered as an added advantage for any person seeking this job position.

Any individual who is interested in becoming a tutor may be required to have the following mentioned degrees, courses and certifications:

  • A high school diploma
  • A bachelor’s degree in the subject to be taken as field of teaching.
  • Sometimes, a diploma course in teaching such as B.Ed may also be required by aspirants.
  • Certificate course in any form of teaching that is nursery teacher training; high school teacher training etc may be required from those tutors who wish to teach at school level education.
  • A master’s degree in the subject to be taken as field of teaching may be required from those who wish to impart education of higher or college level.

Formal education in the field of tutoring is a must for an aspirant. But apart from this, one needs to be a good teacher and must know how to impart knowledge of the subject to his/her pupils for this training is quite necessary.
