A tax preparer education must focus on all the aspects of the job responsibilities performed by a tax preparer. A tax preparer is responsible for calculating, filing and signing income tax returns for his clients.   • Training programs offered by Accreditation Council for Accountancy and Taxation (ACAT) or the National Association of Tax Professionals (NATP)
  • Certificate courses in tax preparation, tax accounting, tax filing, exemption, or refund calculation
  • Accredited Tax Preparer (ATP) professional certification
  • Candidates who want to pursue their career as tax preparer are required to attain registration from Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and must obtain their Tax Identification Number (PTIN)
