Surgical Technician Requirements

The job of a surgical technician is either directly or indirectly connected to the diagnosis of the ailments of a patients and its cure. In general, a surgical technician works under a supervising doctor or surgeon and assists in the treatment processes of an ailing patient. In the usual cases, a surgical technician works in a team and is knowledgeable about the fundamental surgical instruments, equipments and their usage. The following points would reflect more about the education and job requirements for the post.

Education Requirements:

  • A high school degree in science stream with top grades.
  • A bachelor’s degree in medicine/surgical technology from a reputed university with first class honors.
  • A master’s degree in medicine/surgical technology from a reputed university with first class honors is an added advantage.
  • Certified training in surgical applications.

Job requirements:

  • A minimum experience of about 3 years in a reputed medical institute.
  • Having extensive knowledge of various surgical equipments and their maintenance.
  • Monitoring the standard of the surgical instruments and taking note on the supply and demand of the stocks.
  • The interested candidates must maintain the norms of an operation theater by taking note of the technical details.
  • Documenting the surgical proceedings.
