Student Advisor Requirements

The job of a student advisor is quite interesting. He/she has the primary responsibility to guide the students on matters of tackling with the academic syllabus and professional matters. There are certain administrative aspects that a student needs to follow when he/she enrolls in a college or university. A student advisor, recruited by the particular educational institute, helps the student in this regards. The finer points of the academic programs are made understood to the students by the student advisor. During placement session, or finding internships, guidance from a quality student advisor plays a crucial role.

Education Requirements:

  • A high school degree in any stream from a reputed educational institute with decent grades.
  • A bachelor’s degree in any streak – arts, science, commerce or any other, from a good college or university with good credentials.
  • Some experience in an accredited agency or institute in matters of career counseling would be an added advantage in the applicant’s profile.

Job Requirements:

  • The prospective student advisor must possess very good communication and coordination skills as the work demands meeting and interacting with students and their guardians and officials from various academic departments.
  • Must have full knowledge about the various features of the academic programs and the educational policies of the concerned authorities.
  • Should be able to guide the interested students to participate in various study-related conferences, workshops and job fairs.
  • The applicant should be clear in explaining the future prospects of a stream in individual orientation sessions.
  • Should have an amiable personality.
