Stock Trader Education Requirements

A stock trader is a professional who works directly for the finance center. This involves buying and selling of stocks, shares and bonds. The stock trading and stock market is one of the most busy and unpredictable areas of finance. One who is aspiring to become a stock trader must note that this position needs a lot of training and education.

This kind of job offers a lot of opportunities to climb up the professional ladder. However, one must be updated and alert about the market and the prevailing economic conditions at every time. Stock Trader Education Requirements

  • Stock traders must be well educated. Employers look for at least bachelor’s degree from any accredited university or college.
  • Generally, if one has to get into a relevant educational program, there is a necessity to have at least four years of educational training in order to become a stock trader.
  • A master’s degree is also necessary for some employers.
  • This job requires that the individual is certified. There is a need to get registered for the Series 7 license. The exam for such a license is done through the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority or FINRA. The organization ensures the person giving the exam will be able to uphold all the duties and obligations. It becomes necessary to associate with another organization or sponsorship in order to give this exam. This is a basic requirement.
  • Series 63 license is an additional certification wherein one has to give the Uniform Securities Agents State Law Examination

Stock Trader Qualification and Training:

The stock trader must be skillful in mathematics, communication skills and sales. It is important to communicate to traders, clients and brokers effectively and clearly. The sales skills help in getting clients for various stocks and bonds purchases.

He or she must be able to advise clients for the stocks’ selection as well. One must be able to calculate quickly and correctly when on the job.
