Stenographer Requirements

A stenographer is a person who takes dictations in shorthand or steno machines and then transfers them to documents that are required for businesses. A stenographer also takes down important remarks in meetings and later makes a summary and presents them to the respective people. They have other roles too like answering phones, typing, and filling of documents.

Stenographer Educational Requirements:

Candidates wishing to apply for this position should have a high school diploma.

  • Candidates having a college degree, vocational training, or a degree in business school are preferred.
  • Candidates having an advanced certificate program in Stenography are required for certain positions.

Stenographer Job Requirements:

  • Stenographers should have good writing and reading skills. They should have a good command over their language as well.
  • Candidates should have the ability to take proper instructions and should like to work on detailed tasks.
  • Candidates should have fluency while writing and should have the ability to take on multitude tasks.
  • Candidates with a minimum of 2 years experience in typing are preferred.
  • Candidates should be ready to work for long hours when needed.
  • The candidate should have good communication skills and eye for details.
