Shipping & Receiving Clerk Requirements

A Shipping & Receiving clerk works towards transporting materials from the warehouse to the shipping dock according to the orders received. He should be well aware of the warehouse facilities and work with persons at the shipping dock. As and when there is a requirement to ship out materials from the warehouse, a Shipping & Receiving Clerk informs the Warehouse coordinator and arranges for transportation of material to the shipping dock. The education requirements and job requirements of a Shipping & Receiving Clerk are given below.

Education Requirements:

  • Candidates must be well aware of concepts in supply chain management (SCM). So a post-graduation qualification with operations specialization is the preferred education path.
  • Candidates with a minimum of 2 years of experience in warehousing and distribution are given an advantage during the process of selection.
  • Candidates can alternatively be exposed to the required concepts through certification, internships, apprenticeships, live projects, etc.

Job Requirements:

  • As Shipping & Receiving Clerk, applicants will be expected to making a book of accounts of shipping details and cost incurred.
  • They are accountable for the materials coming in and going out of the warehouse.
  • They need to ensure that good are delivered on time according to the pre-decided quality and quantity.
  • They need to pack and unpack the shipping deliveries and are required to prepare the bill of lading.
  • Candidates are required to ensure the smooth flow of materials in and out of the warehouse without damages or breakage.
