Restaurant Host Requirements

The reputation of a restaurant builds up on the quality of service and food and beverages. The restaurant host has the prime responsibility to see that the customers are at comfort all the time. The ambience of the restaurant built by the interiors, lightings, music and other factors are maintained by the restaurant host. He also suggests pertinent measures to improve it, if required. A restaurant host generally works under a restaurant manager and on most of the occasions a team of junior restaurant executives work under him. He also has to document the day to day activities of the restaurant business centered on customer satisfaction.

Education Requirements:

  • A high school degree in any stream from a reputed educational institute with good grades.
  • A bachelor’s degree in hotel management or in any subject closely related to this particular field from a good college or university is highly regarded.
  • A master’s degree in hotel management from a top university with decent grades is extremely beneficial and puts the candidate at an advantageous position.
  • Certified training as a restaurant host from accredited institutes is a big plus.

Job Requirements:

  • A minimum experience of 12 to 15 months as a restaurant host in a well known restaurant.
  • Should possess ample expertise in welcoming the guests and escorting them to the tables.
  • Must politely pay heed to the queries of the customers and solve those effectively.
  • Should maintain the decorum of the restaurant.
  • Must help in scheduling and fixing menus on certain occasions.
