Physical Science Education Requirements

A physical science education requirement includes training and learning about all aspects of physical science. The education should cover studying in the field of physics, astronomy and earth science. The individual should have knowledge about properties and behavior of energy and intimate matter. Again the education requirements differ from one profession in the field of physical science to another depending on the job type. There are various degree programs available in the area of physical science and an individual can pursue a bachelor’s degree, a master’ degree and doctoral degrees.

An undergraduate student specializing in physics has to study fundamental, modern and experimental forms of physics. An undergraduate student specializing in chemistry has to study various types of chemistry which include organic, inorganic, analytical and biophysical.  An undergraduate student specializing in astronomy has to study both general and introductory astronomy courses which may include planetary science, astrophysics and stellar astronomy.

Physical Science Education Requirements:

  • An individual who wants to pursue a career in the field of physical science needs to pass out high school in the science stream with physics and chemistry as subjects.
  • He should also pursue a bachelor’s degree with specialization in physics, chemistry, astronomy or earth science.
  • Masters degree in physical science.
  • Though a doctoral degree is not compulsory, the individual can also pursue a doctoral degree which will give him an added advantage.

Physical Science Degrees, Courses and Certifications:

An individual needs to undertake the following degree programs and certification courses in order to be eligible to work in the field of physical science:

  • Bachelor’s degree in physics
  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry
  • Bachelor’s degree in astronomy
  • Bachelor’s degree in earth science
  • Master’s degree in the field in which the individual wants to specialize
  • PhD degree in the field in which the individual wants to specialize

Physical Science Qualification and Training:

An individual who have pursued bachelor’s degree programs in the field of physical science can work as technicians or teachers. If the individual wants to qualify as a researcher or a professor at the university, he should have a PhD degree. An individual who wants to work in the field of earth science must have a master’s degree.
