A petroleum engineer is a very important person in the petroleum industry and he is responsible for suggesting new methods for better oil and gas productions. He also oversees the drilling operation and gives technical advice about more safe and economical ways of doing the job. Overall he is responsible in the entire drilling process namely, production, drilling and processing. The openings for the position of a petroleum engineer are very high and are spread across the globe.

Petroleum Engineer’s Educational Requirements:

  • Candidate should have a bachelors’ degree in petroleum engineering
  • Candidates who do not have a bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering should have petroleum engineering as one of their master’s subjects in their post graduation.
  • Candidates should possess a minimum of 2 years work experience before they can apply for this position.

Petroleum Engineer’s Job Requirements

  • Applicant should have the ability to work and think independently with an entire team
  • Applicant should have a mind set to work with demanding job conditions and changing priorities.
  • Applicant should have good analyzing skills and should have the ability to make quick decisions
