A pediatric nurse assists in treating small children and administers proper medication on them if they are suffering with an illness. They provide emotional support to the parents if their children are detected with some disease or illness. Candidates who want to become pediatric nurse should have love for children and should easily be able to understand their problems. They also conduct periodic checks and monitor the health condition of children. Most of the employers prefer applicants who have passed out of good medical universities with specialisation in pediatrics. However a Bachelor’s degree in nursing is the minimum qualification. Education Requirements:

  • Candidates whose aim is to become pediatric nurse should necessarily pursue their graduation and preferably post graduation in nursing.
  • Students have mandatory stipulated credit hours to practice clinical work that needs to be completed. This helps develop practical exposure to the job responsibilities of a pediatric nurse.
  • Employers generally prefer to opt for those candidates who have at least 2-3 years of work experience in the field of nursing.

Job Requirements:

  • A pediatric nurse can work in nursing homes or pediatric wards of hospitals. They can also run their own paediatric clinic alongside their regular profession.
  • A pediatric nurse should conduct tests and examinations on the physical condition of the children and suggest medication to return to a health and normal living.
  • They conduct routine and periodic testing on the children that can include obesity check, blood check, blood pressure check, and urine check.
  • They listen to the problems of the children from their parents and encourage them to handle the situation positively.
