Oil Rig Crane Operator Requirements

The primary task of an oil rig crane operator is to mind the operational activities concerning the crane used at the offshore crude oil field. An oil rig operator is recruited by the oil companies and given the charge of operating the rig crane. The rig crane is one of the most important equipments used by the concerned oil company. The operator needs to work very carefully within the regulatory framework of the company where he/she has been employed. The oil rig operator has to work in a team of labour personnel dealing with the oil rigging operations.

Education Requirements:

  • A high school degree in the science stream.
  • A bachelor’s degree in geology or in petroleum technology is highly sought.
  • Though a master’s degree is not required yet the candidates with graduate degree in geology or in petroleum technology are at an advantageous position to be seriously considered for the job.
  • A technical degree in oil rigging operations is highly favourable.
  • Some sort of certified training in oil rigging operations from an accredited institute is a big plus point in the candidate’s profile.

Job Requirements:

  • A minimum experience of 1 to 2 years as an oil rig crane operator in a reputed oil company with positive credentials.
  • Must have ample application based knowledge of operating an oil rigging crane.
  • Should be able to follow the technical instructions of the management and supervise the dynamics of the oil rigging operation.
  • Should be a good team player.
