Oil Refinery Manager Requirements

The work of an oil refinery manager is to supervise the various operational activities that take place at an oil refinery of a registered company. He/she manages a team of both technical and administrative executives in processing a number of projects as instructed by the higher management.

Education Requirements:

  • A highs school degree in the science stream.
  • A bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering or in chemical engineering with good grades.
  • A master’s degree in a similar subject is highly favoured.
  • A master’s in business administration would be a big plus in the candidate’s profile.
  • Certified training from an accredited institute in refinery engineering.
  • An associated diploma in refinery management would be advantageous.

Job Requirements:

  • A minimum experience of 2 to 4 years as an oil refinery executive in a reputed oil company.
  • Must have full knowledge about the technical aspects of an oil refinery, including the working of the different machines and equipments.
  • Should be able to lead from front.
  • Must finish the allotted assignments by the deadline.
  • The candidate must be capable of formulating cost effective strategies to run the oil refinery more efficiently.
  • Must supervise the documentation of the regular business activities at the oil refinery.
  • Should be able to provide the management with practical solutions about upgrading the machines parts and tools and the overall technology used at the refinery.
  • Should incorporate all the safety regulations compulsory at the refinery.
  • Must be aware of the regulatory norms of the concerned authorities.
