Nuclear Power Plant Engineer Requirements

A nuclear power plant engineer has one of the primary responsibilities to build nuclear power plants and formulate advanced concepts and machines to extract electricity from it in a cost effective manner. With each passing day, the significance of nuclear power as a huge source of renewable energy is gaining momentum. The nuclear power plant engineer coordinates with the nuclear scientists in incorporating the pertinent technology in the plant and focuses on improving the efficiency of the equipments accounting for the safety regulations in details. A nuclear power plant engineer always works in a team and documents the day to day operational activities at the plant.

Education Requirements:

  • A high school degree in the science stream with physics and mathematics as the core subjects.
  • An undergraduate degree in physics or in mathematics from a well known university is highly sought.
  • A graduate degree in physics with specialization in nuclear physics would be extremely beneficial for the candidate.
  • Those with doctorate degree in nuclear physics are in strong standing to get the job.
  • Certified training in designing and processing the nuclear power plant dynamics from an accredited institute is a big plus.

Job Requirements:

  • A minimum experience of 2 years at a nuclear research institute as a nuclear power plant engineer.
  • Should have deep understanding and application based knowledge of nuclear engineering and relevant designing methods.
  • Must be very sharp in mathematics.
  • Should be aware of the compulsory safety regulations.
  • Should be very hard-working.
