Microbiologist Requirements

A microbiologist has the primary job to incorporate microbiological concepts in various fields and focus on bettering relevant processes concerning human life. A microbiologist spends most of the time in a laboratory. He/she performs a host of experiments and tests a lot of things centred on developing more efficient drugs, life-saving medical equipments, better fuels and variegated number of things like these. The microbiologist plays a very big role in formulating the scientific base of different types of antibiotics and various sorts of antiseptics.  He/she continuously stresses on eradicating the disease causing micro-organisms.

Education Requirements:

  • A high school degree in the science stream with very good grades in biology.
  • A bachelor’s degree in microbiology or in chemistry from a reputed educational institute is highly sought.
  • A graduate degree in microbiology or in chemistry or in a subject closely related to field of biological sciences would put the candidate at an advantageous position.
  • Certified training in microbiology related projects from accredited institute is highly appreciated.

Job Requirements:

  • A minimum experience of one and a half to two years as a microbiologist in a research institute or in a pharmaceutical company.
  • Must possess ample expertise in applying a vast range of advanced microbiological concepts in the lab tests and relevant experiments.
  • Should be well aware of handling the different lab equipments while conducting particular microbiological research studies.
  • Should be ready to work for long hours when the situation demands so.
  • Must prioritize the objectives of the experiments.
  • Should have an analytical frame of mind.
