Medical Transcriptionist Requirements

Medical transcriptionist is a person in health industry who is responsible for processing the transcriptions and converting the voice recorded reports which are dictated by the healthcare professionals into a text format. The text prepared by MT may be printed and placed in the records of the patient or can be stored in electronic format. The Medical transcriptionist performs their work with the help of an instrument called medical transcriber. The requirements for being a MT are as follows.

Medical Transcriptionist Education Requirements:

  • Candidate with senior secondary school certificate in biology stream is required.
  • Applicant must be a bachelor in science.
  • Candidate must have knowledge of internet and computer.
  • He should be a registered medical transcriptionist.

Medical Transcriptionist Job Requirements:

  • Applicant should be capable of handling all records.
  • Candidate should be able to mark out the mistakes in notes and reports and amend them by taking feedback from doctors.
  • A candidate should be aware of medical abbreviations and terminology.
  • An applicant should have ability to follow verbal as well as written instructions.
  • He should have good typing skills.
  • He should have good memory.
  • A candidate should have ability to sort, check, verify and count numbers with accuracy.
