Medical Imaging Education Requirements

Medical imaging education should be directed towards providing a potential radiologist or sonographer with excellent skills in using these non invasive techniques and in the analysis of tissues and organs. A medical imaging professional, usually a radiologist or sonographer, must pass high school with appreciable marks, and then pursue a Bachelor’s degree at the very least. This must be followed by an associate degree or certificate course in medical imaging, which will equip him with the technical mastery of operating the complex and heavy equipment that will be part of his job, like X-Ray machines, USG machines and so on.

  • A medical imaging professional must also learn a specialized branch of medical imaging like cardiac, abdominal or obstetrics through various certification courses.
