Librarian Requirements

Librarian is the most important part of an institution and is required to manage library and coordinate with the students in an effectual manner. Library is the section of an institution where every student visit for necessary study books, competitive material and newspapers. Thus librarian should take care that library environment should is peaceful, book shelves are clean and books are issued in an appropriate manner. Moreover, all records should be found on exact places.  To appoint a good librarian certain criteria is required:

Librarian Education Requirements:

  • Candidate should have a course in Library Science and Library Instruction programme.
  • Applicant with course in Librarianship is preferred.
  • Interviewee with ALIA certified short term course is preferable.
  • Applicant should have graduate degree in any stream with honours.
  • Bachelor in Library science from Government and an Authorized Institution is preferred.
  • Candidate should be post graduate with Master of Library Science Degree (M.L.S) from certified associations.
  • M. Phil and PhD applicants are the most desirable ones.

Librarian Job Requirements:

  • To qualify, one year of experience as librarian and part- time page clerk is mandatory.
  • Candidate should be fluent in local language in reading, writing and understanding.
  • Eligible candidates with proficiency in any three foreign languages should be preferred.
  • Candidate must have the knowledge Of G.P.A
  • Selected candidate should be able to maintain library, shelves and official records properly.

So in this manner, institutions can easily a hire skilful librarian to maintain and run the library successfully.
