Insurance Sales Representative Requirements

The insurance market is continuously expanding at a brisk rate. The insurance companies recruit insurance sales representatives for selling their products to the customers and grow their businesses. The insurance sales representative has the prime task of explaining the features of the insurance products to the targeted customers and sells those. It is very important to know in full details the facts about the insurance products – premium amount, interest, maturity period, various clauses, legalities and transferring policies. On most of the occasions the insurance sales representative has to work as a part of a sales team and pertinently follow the instructions of the senior executives.

Education Requirements:

  • A high school degree in any stream with good grades is a must.
  • A bachelor’s degree is preferable in insurance management or sales and marketing related stream from a good college.
  • The candidates with graduate degrees in insurance management have edge over others.
  • Certified training in sales and marketing of insurance products from an accredited organization is a big credential.

Job Requirements:

  • Should have excellent communication skills, especially in speaking, as the job requires interacting with a host of different clients from various backgrounds.
  • Must be able to implement the sales strategies as have been directed by the senior officials.
  • Must be an out and out team player as the responsibility involves working in a sales team.
  • Should be ready to work overtime.
  • Must document the day to day progress of the sales activities centered on insurance policies.
