Geophysicist Requirements

A geophysicist mainly focuses on studying the various elements of the atmosphere and relating those to the variegated occurrences in the environment. The weather offices and many research institutes recruit geophysicists. A geophysicist works in a lab and assesses the different types of environmental phenomena in regards to the earth’s structure and atmospheric dynamics. He or she works in both quantitative and qualitative paradigms in this particular field. In most of the projects, a geophysicist has to work in a team of scientists and research workers. The person also needs to properly document his/her day to day activities.

Education Requirements:

  • A high school degree in the science stream with very good grades in physics and mathematics.
  • A bachelor’s degree in physics or in geology from a reputed college is highly favourable.
  • The candidates with a master’s degree in physics or in geology from a decent university are at an advantageous position to be seriously considered for the job.
  • Certified training from an accredited institute in handling geological projects would be a big plus point in the candidate’s profile.

Job Requirements:

  • A minimum experience of at least 2 to 3 years as a junior geophysicist in a well known research institute is highly appreciable.
  • Must possess an analytic approach in solving problems that require deep scrutiny of the geophysical data of the atmosphere and the earth.
  • Should neatly document the regular research study details.
  • Must have ample knowledge of using the lab equipments for geophysical experiments.
  • Must be very sincere.
