Customs Officer Education Requirements

The prime job of customs officer includes enforcing law at various entry and exit ports of the country. Whether the immigration of human resource as well as cargo is concerned with land ports, water ports or air ports, it is the duty of the customs officer to check whether the migration is being carried out legally or not.

  • Graduation from high school in related field.
  • Volunteer participation with local law enforcement at the high school level.
  • Appearance and clearance in SAT exam in order to qualify for a college level degree course
  • A degree in criminal justice.
  • The candidate should be deeply familiar with the subjects like law, humanities, criminology, writing, psychology and sociology.

Customs officer Qualification and Training:

Along with having a degree in criminal justice, a candidate aiming to work with U.S. Department of Home Security at a post of customs officer should also be physically fit and free of any court cases pending in his name. The foremost requirement is that he should be a citizen of the country and at least 21 years old to apply for the post.

Also, the potential candidates would be required to be trained at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Glynco, Georgia in order to be eligible for the post.
