A chief executive officer works with other high level managers and executives in the daily running of the company and forming its policies, goals and aims. Thus, the minimum education which as aspiring chief executive officer must obtain is a post graduation degree, which can either be specific to the field in which he works, or it can be more general like a degree in Business. A chief executive officer must also continually keep himself upgraded about the latest developments in his field and some companies prefer the aspiring chief executive officer to possess a doctoral degree as well.

Apart from formal or degree based education, an aspirant to the position of chief executive officer must participate in certification programs and internships with reputed companies and schools. This must be supplemented by extensive work experience at various managerial positions before he is considered for the post of a CEO. The chief executive officer is one of the highest posts in a company and thus, care should be given to such a candidate’s education.
