Aircraft Engine Mechanic Requirements

Aircraft engine mechanic is a specialised work in handling specific machine parts in aircrafts. They need to service and repair parts like airframes, engines, propellers, gears and valves, etc. An aircraft engine mechanic performs the critical task to avoid any kind of air accident. Mechanics have to mostly work in plants or garages where aircrafts are landed or manufactured. Also before any aircraft takes passengers onboard, testing of the aircraft is mandatory. So some aircraft engine mechanics are also employed at the runways.

Education Requirements:

  • To handle specialised maintenance and repair, applicants need to complete their graduation or post-graduation in mechanics, physics, auto and aircraft mechanics, etc.
  • Applicants can get specialized training with courses that special training programs provide and last for around 6 months to 1 year.
  • To work as an aircraft engine mechanic, applicants must possess license. Different licenses are available for working on different parts of the aircraft.

Job Requirements:

  • Applicants need to be proactive, with good hand-eye coordination, and expertise in handling parts of the aircraft.
  • Applicants should be able to work with blueprints of the design, manuals, graphs, etc.
  • Most of the hiring requirements include 2-3 years of relevant experience.
  • The working hours can get hectic and so applicants need to be flexible.
  • Applicants should not have hearing problems as they will be exposed to constant noise in their work place.
  • Applicants also need to work under tight deadlines as aircrafts have fixed time departure and landing.
